your liking and get a fairly accurate cost estimate.
The game of cribbage has been beloved for centuries. Believed to have been invented by a British soldier and poet, Sir John Suckling in the early 17th century and was brought to American shores by English settlers, where it became quite popular in the colonies, especially in New England.
In 1938, American architect Alfred Mosher Butts created the game as a variation on an earlier word game he invented called Lexiko. The new game, which he called "Criss-Crosswords," added the 15×15 game board and the crossword-style game play. In 1948, James Brunot bought the rights to manufacture the game. He slightly rearranged the "premium" squares of the board, simplified the rules and changed the name of the game to "Scrabble", a real word which means "to scratch frantically".
Backgammon is one of the oldest games in existence, alongside Go and Chess. It is probably about 5,000 years old and may well have originated in what today is Iraq—previously Mesopotamia. Recent evidence supporting this was found when very early dice (made of human bones) were discovered in the area.
The history of chess goes back almost 1500 years. The game originated in northern India in the 6th century AD and spread to Persia. When the Arabs conquered Persia, chess was taken up by the Muslim world and subsequently, through the Moorish conquest of Spain, spread to Southern Europe.
